Safe, clean neighborhoods

“Everyone deserves safe and clean neighborhoods to call home including residents in East San José. This is why I’m proud to have authored the toughest illegal dumping law in the state of California and to be the only candidate in the race for District 5 council member who has never advocated to defund the police. I believe that by working in partnership with law enforcement we can prioritize community engagement and ensure accountability.”

-Rolando Bonilla

Rolando Bonilla’s efforts have helped make East San José neighborhoods a little stronger and safer. However, there is still a lot more work to do so that all San José residents feel safe in their neighborhoods.

As your next Councilmember, Rolando Bonilla will continue to push for measures that promote long-term health, safety, and stability. Bonilla’s plan includes:

  • Increasing the number of police officers to levels consistent with the size of our population, San José being the largest city in the Bay Area and the 10th largest in the County.
  • Increasing the code enforcement resources to crack down on absentee landlords and run-down properties in East San José.
  • Increasing efficient lighting in neighborhoods to promote safety.
  • Investing in transforming parks, trails, sidewalks, and other areas into quality public spaces that are safe and walkable.
